LIEDERKRANZ MIXED CHOIR

This new choir was founded on 23/07/98 by Willi Kortz and Eddie Neuhaus who were repeatedly asked by interested singers to form a mixed choir. The new choir practices every Thursday night from 7.00 p.m. at the German Club until 9.00 p.m. The Choir started out with 18 members, but now has swelled to 43 members and still growing. Our present Conductor is Leo Keller.

The First public performance of the choir was held at the "Lufthansa Ball" at the German Club in Brisbane on 25 September 1998.

On the 19 December 1998 the choir performed Christmas Carols at the City Hall where they joined other ethnic groups singing the carols in their own native languages. On 13 June 1999, the Choir held their first Annual Concert at the German Club, where they were joined by other choirs from Interstate and ethnic Dance groups from around Brisbane. The Choir for the first time held their own Christmas Concert at the German Club on Sunday the 26 November 2000. The Choir also recently hosted the Oktoberfest at the German Club, which was a success. Even the rain couldn't keep people away. The Choir will sing Christmas Carols for the Members of the German Club at their annual Christmas Party. The Choir will perform anywhere for a worth while course and will accept Donations to offset their expenses.
